DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Salary: Negotiable

Location: VietJet Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Team: Engineering Department

Application deadline: 07/09 — 07/10/2026

Job Description

Director of Engineering

Vietjet Thailand  is scaling one of the fastest-growing airlines in the region, and we're looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the function that keeps every one of those aircraft airworthy, compliant, and ready to fly. This is a newly defined role: Engineering now stands as its own director-level function alongside Maintenance, both reporting directly to the VP Operations, giving you a clear mandate to build out Engineering's policies, systems, and team without the operational load of day-to-day maintenance.

What You'll Do

  • Direct the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance policies, procedures, and systems across the Engineering Department.
  • Lead the Deputy Director, Engineering and the Managers of Engineering Finance, Technical Quality Control, Technical Service, and Maintenance Planning.
  • Own budget and resourcing decisions for Engineering's cost centers, ensuring adequate manpower, equipment, materials, and finance are in place.
  • Report deficiencies in standards, finance, or departmental performance directly to the Accountable Manager.
  • Define clear accountability across Engineering's sub-departments so every manager owns their performance outcomes.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance and other Division Heads on cross-functional airworthiness and resourcing matters.
  • Serve as the internal authority on continuing airworthiness for the Company's aircraft, engines, avionics, and related equipment.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Engineering degree (Aerospace, Aeronautical, Industrial, Avionics, or Mechanical), or an Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) license with Airframe and Powerplant ratings, or equivalent education acceptable to the Authority.
  • 8-10 years of experience in an aircraft maintenance program in commercial aviation, including at least 5 years maintaining the same or a higher category and class of aircraft the Company operates.
  • Experience leading a team of senior managers and junior staff, with strong collaboration skills, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Working knowledge of the Airbus A320, Boeing 737-8 family and CFM56-5B engine systems.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience operating as part of a split Engineering/Maintenance leadership structure, or standing up a new engineering function.
  • Familiarity with CAAT (Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand) regulatory requirements and OEM relationships (Airbus, Boeing, CFM).
